Reader. Writer. Budding blogger.
My name is Brooke, and I have an English degree and too many books to fit on my bookcases and shelves. My resolution for this year was to read a book a week, and I’ve done a good job of sticking to it (which is a first as far as my resolutions go). While I don’t have a list of all the books I’ve read this year, a few of them include the Divergent series, The Maze Runner series, Agatha Christie (specifically Miss Marple), some Nicholas Sparks, and more.
My favorite author is Jane Austen, and my favorite novel is her Persuasion. I collect copies of Persuasion and have 15+. My goal is to one day have a first edition (anyone want to give me around $15,000?). I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan—as in 12 HP dedicated Pinterest boards huge. My favorite HP—both novel and film, despite their vast differences—is Prisoner of Azkaban.
I recently completed my first novel and am currently in the process of trying to get it published, which is scary/exciting/nerve-racking/etc. One day, my novels will be on the shelves of bookstores, and I will sneakily sign random copies for unsuspecting fans (you’re welcome in advance). One of the reasons I’m passionate about writing is because I’m exhausted of the “novels” that plague our society. I want my cousins and future children to have the desire to read without the fear of what you might find when you open a book. Everyone is gung-ho about cleaning up our world…well, let’s clean up the literary world while we’re at it!
